We are STATE CHAMPIONS Again!
Our volleyball & football teams completed the sweep of the state tournament winning in both sports! That means our volleyball team has now won the State Championship five years in a row, and the football team has won the State Championship eight out of the past nine years. We have an outstanding athletic tradition, and we are very proud of our athletes.
In volleyball play today, the girls played at noon and beat Grace (25-20 & 25-10) to advance to the Championship game. They then rested much of the day waiting for a team to emerge from the losers bracket in the double-elimination tournament to play them. In the end, it was Grace who earned a rematch for the Championship. Our girls then won three straight games to win the match and capture the state title.
In football, our guys played two grudge matches. At 9:30am, the boys played Jacksonville Christian Academy in a game that went into double overtime. In that game, we were victorious by a score of 24-18, and we advanced to the Championship game. After supporting the girls in their match, the boys rested until the 3:00pm Championship game. While we rested, Harvest & West Meadows played a semifinal game to determine who would face us. Remarkably, this game also went into double overtime with West Meadows emerging as the winner to face us for the state title. During the Championship game, we were ahead most of the game, but it was a close one! Thankfully, we were able to come away victorious by a score of 26-24.
Thank you so much for your support and prayers while our teams have been away at the State Tournament. Thank you to all of the parents, staff, and alumni who travelled to watch the games. We appreciate the support and the opportunity to represent you and to make you proud! May God continue to bless Liberty Christian School!
